I almost bought one of those in ‘81, but when I went to the Toyota dealer all he had to test-drive was ones with automatic transmissions. I wouldn’t have bought an automatic, but the salesman told me he could get me one with a manual from another dealership, and in the mean time would I like to test-drive one of these? I liked it a lot except for the power - that was a dangerously slow car with an automatic! And I was coming from a.) a ‘66 VW Beetle with 44 HP, and b.) a ‘67 SAAB Monte Carlo with 60 HP, so I wasn’t really requiring muscle-car horsepower levels.

Anyway then a couple years later I drove some other guy’s ‘80 Tercel with a manual and I was surprised to see it was actually pretty peppy. I would have bought one of those if the dealer had had one to let me test drive.

I’d suggest you put the bumpers back on for the pictures and take the electrical tape off the headlights to get more serious buyers, haha.

lol. In MA you aren’t allowed to sell a car that won’t pass inspection. They have cameras at all the inspection stations now. I have driven and had inspected several cars that shouldn’t have passed, but never sold one.

Yeah, Missouri knows the inspection system is so broken and corrupt they’d never get away with regulating private sales like that. Also, I’m selling it from Kansas, where there are no silly inspections.

You can swap in a 4AGE. The engine is longitudinal, even though it’s FWD, so the bell housing fits other Toyota engines with ease, or so I’ve heard.
